Government Orders related to The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act:

    The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 has come into effect from 1st April 2010. The Act provides for Free and Compulsory Education to all children including disabled children of the age of 6 to 14 years. Section 25 (i) the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 stipulates that within 6 months from the date of commencement of this Act, the appropriate Government and the Local Authority shall ensure that the pupil teacher ratio as specified in the Scheduled is maintained in each school.

    The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (No.35 of 2009) is the Act to provide Free and Compulsory Education to all children of the age of six to fourteen years. This historic Act was enacted by the Parliament on 26th August, 2009 and it came into effect from1st April, 2010. The Act was enacted following the 86th ammendment by which an Article 21A has got incorporated in the constitution.

Initiativies taken by the Government of Tamil Nadu for implementing RTE Act:

    The Government of India enacted the ‘Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009’ for providing free and compulsory education to all children in the age group of 6 to 14 years.  The Act came into effect from 1st of April, 2010.  It was enacted under the 86th constitutional amendment which brought about an insertion of an Article 21-A which states that, “State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of 6 to 14 years, in such manner, as the State may, by law, determine”.
